Infosys Inaugurates New Development Center in West Bengal

Infosys, a global leader in next-generation digital services and consulting, has unveiled a new development center in New Town, West Bengal. The ₹426 crore facility was inaugurated by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who hailed it as a significant milestone for the state’s IT sector.

A New Chapter in West

Banerjee expressed her delight at Infosys’s decision to establish a presence in West Bengal, fulfilling a long-held aspiration. She emphasized the center’s potential to attract further IT investment to the state, which already boasts a thriving IT industry with approximately 2,200 companies, including major players like TCS, Wipro, IBM, and Accenture.

A Growing IT Hub

The Chief Minister also announced ambitious plans for the development of a 200-acre “Silicon Valley” in New Town, aiming to create 75,000 jobs and attract ₹27,000 crore in investment. Currently, 28 companies are operational in the area, and 11 data centers are under construction.

The new Infosys campus, spanning 50 acres, is expected to employ 4,000 IT professionals. Additionally, Banerjee revealed plans to establish a cable landing station to further enhance connectivity for IT companies in the state.
