Nvidia today revealed on October 5 that it is developing the most efficient supercomputer in the United Kingdom, Cambridge-1, to enable researchers in the UK use AI in the science and health fields to solve medical problems, like COVID-19. At the end of the year, Cambridge-1 is scheduled to go online, ranked 29th in the new TOP500 list of the fastest supercomputers in the world.
The first pharmaceutical firms that will use Cambridge-1 for testing will be GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and AstraZeneca (AstraZeneca). Gay and St Thomas NHS Foundation engineers, King’s College London and Oxford Nanopore Technologies are all preparing to use the device.
