Pixel 5a is rumored to be canceled by Google due to continued chip shortage. Pixel 4a will continue to be sold

Google is expected to launch the Pixel 5a shortly, much as it did with the Pixel 4a last year. Unfortunately, a leaker stated that a sequel to the low-cost Pixel platform could not be released due to ongoing chip shortages. Instead, Google will pursue a different approach to maintain mobile revenue.

The Pixel 5a, according to Jon Prosser, will not be available, but Google has other plans. The corporation plans to continue selling Pixel 4a and Pixel 4a 5G equipment in order to keep the smart phone line operational, although this may result in increased losses for Google, as many users who are waiting for the Pixel 5a do not want to be pressured to waste money on previous generation devices.

To increase purchasing power, Google can lower the price of the Pixel 4a and Pixel 4a 5G. According to a previous rendering of the Pixel 5a, this upcoming smartphone shares many features with the Pixel 4a 5G, including familiar designs like dual rear cameras. Google might keep the Pixel 4a 5G chassis, but add various “off the rack” components and call the new phone something else. Apple is now using a related approach. The 2020 iPhone SE has a shell that is similar to that of the iPhone 8, but it has a distinct internal configuration.

According to the new speculation, Google does not use its custom “Whitechapel” SoC on the Pixel 5a, but will save it for the higher-end Pixel series, which is expected later this year. We assume the Pixel 5a will be fitted with Snapdragon 780G or Snapdragon 750G at the very least, assuming Google is not hampered by the ongoing chip shortage.

Unlike last year, Google did not postpone its I/O 2021 keynote, so we can confidently predict when the Pixel 5a will be out. Please be vigilant about this knowledge until then, and we will keep you updated.
