Iliad’s release in the fixed is approaching. The landing in Italy will take place “before the summer,” as reported at the Iliad Group conference on March 16, 2021, but it is not ruled out that it will be much closer than predicted.
After two years of working together on the Simboxes, the operator recently bought 12% of Unieuro’s share capital. The deal could also help with Italy’s fixed segment policy, among other items. Here are some additional info.
Iliad is poised to launch with a fixed network in Italy as well.
The deal was announced on April 6, 2021, and the 12 percent stake includes an Iliad Holding equity swap offer for 1.9 percent that expires on September 17, 2021. Iliad has reported that it has agreed to invest in Unieuro’s capital “as it prepares to join the fixed network market.”
In this regard, the operator’s plans remain unknown because, as the Group’s CEO said at the last meeting, Iliad’s top priority is to maintain the operation’s so-called launch-impact in the Italian industry. However, according to rumors that have circulated in recent months, Iliad Italia could enter the fixed market through Freebox Pop of Free, Iliad Group’s French brand.
