That reality is exactly what INTERPOL’s latest international crackdown is designed to confront.
On August 25, 2026, INTERPOL announced the results of Operation Jackal IV, an eight-month international investigation targeting West African organized crime networks, including Black Axe and similar groups. The operation involved 22 countries across six continents, resulting in 58 arrests and the identification of 263 suspects.
The operation ran from November 2025 through June 2026 and focused not simply on arresting individual scammers, but on attacking the infrastructure that allows organized cyber-enabled financial crime to operate: money laundering, criminal assets, high-value targets, financial accounts, online services, and international support networks.

That geographic spread is important.
A criminal organization does not need every member to be located in the same country.
