The Fight for Israel’s Future
The next few months will be pivotal for Israel. Will the country maintain its status as the Startup Nation, a beacon of democracy in a challenging region? Or will it be swayed by extreme and sectorial interests? These pressing questions are at the heart of the discussion, and today’s call is not about technology or finance—it’s about politics and responsibility.
Israel is facing one of the greatest internal struggles in its history. The tech community, which has always been at the forefront of innovation and resilience, must now unite to ensure that Israel remains a strong democracy.
From Military Service to Startup Leadership
Just a year ago, I was sitting in an audience much like this one. I had transitioned from a decade of service in the Israeli Navy to becoming a C-level executive in a successful ag-tech startup. Like many in this room, I believed my combat days were behind me.
Then, October 7 changed everything.
Living in the U.S., I could not rejoin my military unit, but I knew I had to do something. Alongside my AID Coalition co-founders, Jonathan Barsade and Ora Peled, we mobilized resources, raising tens of millions of dollars to address Israel’s most urgent needs. Thanks to the generosity of many, we were able to provide:
– Immediate aid and equipment for soldiers
– Support for resilience centers
- Assistance to devastated communities in the South and North
When Israel needed help, the community responded. But our work is not done.
The Next Battle: Securing Israel’s Future
By 2025, many immediate financial needs had been met, but frustrations remain, especially for those abroad. While we can’t physically support reservists, return hostages, or stop undemocratic laws from passing in the Knesset, we CAN ensure that the funds raised for Israel are used transparently and effectively.
This is where a critical, yet overlooked, election comes into play—the World Zionist Congress Elections.
The Power of the World Zionist Congress Elections
Few people know that this election determines how $5 billion is allocated across Israel’s communities, education, and democracy-building efforts. Unfortunately, due to low voter turnout, small extremist factions control these decisions with little transparency.
Think of it this way:
If you owned stock in a Fortune 500 company, would you skip the board meeting? Of course not!
Yet, as we speak, decisions are being made about whether billions will be spent on rebuilding communities and strengthening democracy or funding non-democratic, sectarian agendas.
This is why I am here today.
How You Can Make an Impact
I’m not asking anyone to quit their jobs or move to Israel. All I ask is for your vote—a simple but powerful action.
– It takes 5 minutes
– It costs $5
- It helps determine how $5 billion will be spent
If you are an Israeli Jew living in the U.S., you can vote, and every vote truly counts.
This is our moment to shape Israel’s future. Let’s not waste it.
What Undercode Says:
The Israeli Tech Community’s Role in National Resilience
Israel’s tech sector has long been the backbone of its economy, driving innovation and global competitiveness. However, in times of crisis, this community has proven it is not just about building startups—it’s about building the nation.
1. Tech Leaders as Agents of Change
- In moments of national turmoil, Israeli tech leaders have stepped up, leveraging their networks and resources to mobilize aid, raise funds, and provide logistical support.
- The post-October 7 response was a prime example of this leadership in action.
- The Financial Influence of the World Zionist Congress
– The $5 billion fund managed by the Congress is a critical resource. Its allocation can determine whether democratic values remain central to Israel’s development or whether extreme groups gain more control.
– Historically, low voter turnout has allowed a minority to dictate the majority’s future. This needs to change.
- Democracy and Economic Stability Go Hand in Hand
– Investor confidence is deeply tied to political stability. If Israel’s democratic values erode, its attractiveness as a tech hub could suffer, leading to a decline in foreign investments.
– Many tech entrepreneurs and investors have already expressed concerns about the judicial overhaul and potential autocratic shifts. These changes could weaken Israel’s global standing.
4. The Importance of Diaspora Involvement
- Israeli and Jewish communities abroad play a crucial role in shaping Israel’s policies through advocacy and financial influence.
- Participating in the World Zionist Congress Elections is one of the most direct ways for the Jewish diaspora to have an impact.
5. From Startup Nation to a Sustainable Nation
- Israel’s tech success must be paired with a commitment to democratic values. Without a transparent, fair allocation of resources, the foundations of Israel’s success could weaken.
- Tech professionals must recognize their power not just in business, but in policy-making as well.
The Call to Action: A Small Step with a Huge Impact
- A vote in the World Zionist Congress Elections is not just about politics—it’s about securing Israel’s democratic and economic future.
- Every vote pushes back against corruption, ensures financial transparency, and supports democratic values.
The tech community has always been a problem-solving force. This election presents a clear problem—and the solution is simple: vote.
Fact Checker Results:
- The World Zionist Congress indeed controls the allocation of around $5 billion in funds, impacting various Israeli projects.
- Low voter turnout in past elections has allowed small, extreme factions to dominate decision-making.
- The connection between democracy, economic stability, and Israel’s tech sector is well-documented, with concerns over political shifts affecting investor confidence.
